The scene was set as the tent covered Philadelphia Navy Yard flooded with hard-core drinkers for Pour the Core Hard Cider Festival.

Equipped with healthy livers, souvenir tasting glasses and a gorgeous fall day, we powered through the field tasting every cider in sight! The biggest names in cider were present from tasty local U.S. brews to imported ciders from Europe. There were more than 30 ciders to try and a few seminars about brewing and drinking cider. After my pallet could stand no more crisp yet fruity flavors, these were the winners in my book.
My Top 5 Pour the Core Ciders:
- Woodchuck Hard Cider: Raspberry
- McKenzie’s Black Cherry Hard Cider
- J.K.’s Scrumpy’s Farmhouse Organic Hard Cider
- Fox Barrel boxed cider: Pomegranate
- Strongbow Cider
My personal favorite and the winner of my heart for the day: McKenzie’s Black Cherry Hard Cider

The event was nothing short of good times and quality cider. Despite the amount of people, are glasses were always full. Pour the Core offered the perfect opportunity for cider lovers to meet the brewers who make the drinks they love, and party with fellow cider enthusiasts. So this is the Oktoberfest for cider I take it . . . I need to attend, bad! Cheers
Haha I don’t know if it’s as crazy to a Germany oktoberfest but it was good fun!
